Composites Manufacturing Technician (Entry to Mid-Level)

Role title: Composites Manufacturing Technician (Level 1-3)
Location: On-site El Segundo, CA
Pay: $21-$55 per hour + Stock Options
Hybron is an advanced manufacturing company that is building lightweight composites at mass production scale. At Hybron, we have pioneered a new composites manufacturing process that enables complex, high performance composite parts to be produced 10-100 times faster than traditional manufacturing, at a fraction of the cost.
We recently closed an oversubscribed $25M seed round, are backed by the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator, and are rapidly growing to commercialize and mass produce composite products at a scale never seen before. Our current focus is applying our proprietary process to composite artillery shells, solid rocket motor nozzles, gas turbine engine components, and airframes.

About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person role at our El Segundo facility. As you will be working at an early-stage deep tech startup, this role will span many different tasks. You will need to be a self-starter and be adaptable to performing many different jobs. Along with these high expectations comes the opportunity to significantly influence the product development, strategy, and trajectory of a fast-growing startup company. Your work will tangibly impact our company and the composites industry, and you will be able to make rapid professional gains in an environment that encourages growth and innovation.
As a manufacturing technician, you will prepare tooling, load and handle composite materials, monitor molding cycles, and inspect finished components to ensure quality and consistency.
You are hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with heavy machines, molds, and composite materials in a fast-paced production environment. You take ownership of your work and maintain high standards for safety and repeatability. You have a willingness to learn and a drive for continuous improvement in the workplace. You are a willing and capable communicator, and you can document findings and escalate issues accordingly.

As you grow with Hybron, your responsibilities are expected to shift and evolve. Our hope is that you will be able to grow into the following responsibilities:
- Lead a team of molding technicians and implement schedule and structure for the manufacturing team
- Become a hands-on expert on Hybron’s manufacturing process, and develop a good understanding on how to fix smaller issues without having to escalate to the engineering team.
- Develop interdisciplinary skills across tool/mold maintenance, materials & process analysis, and project managements skills
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop novel composite manufacturing techniques
What we’re looking for
- Must be a U.S. Person pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions.
- 2+ years of experience in molding, composites, or plastics manufacturing, or equivalent trade school background.
- Ability to operate molding equipment such as compression molding, resin transfer molding (RTM), or similar systems.
- Experience with manufacturing composite layups and preforms.
- Ability to prepare, load, and handle composite materials and tooling.
- Ability to monitor molding cycles and document process parameters accurately.
- Ability to clearly communicate molding observations and results in both oral and written form.
- Ability to perform basic part inspection and quality checks to ensure quality and consistency.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Experience with working with heavy equipment, including hydraulic presses and industrial ovens.
Nice to Haves
- Experience working in aerospace or defense manufacturing
- Experience supporting process development or production scale-up
- Experience assisting equipment troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Forklift operation certification or experience
- Experience working in a machine shop environment
- Familiarity with manufacturing documentation and standard operating procedures
Compensation and Schedule
- $21-$55 per hour
