Hybron is an advanced manufacturing company that is building lightweight composites at mass production scale. At Hybron, we have pioneered a new composites manufacturing process that enables complex, high performance composite parts to be produced 10-100 times faster than traditional manufacturing, at a fraction of the cost.

We recently closed an oversubscribed $25M seed round, are backed by the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator, and are rapidly growing to commercialize and mass produce composite products at a scale never seen before. Our current focus is applying our proprietary process to composite artillery shells, solid rocket motor nozzles, gas turbine engine components, and airframes.

About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person role at our Hawthorne facility. The length of the internship will be at least 10 weeks.

As you will be working at an early-stage deep tech startup, this role will span many different tasks. You will need to be a self-starter and adaptable to performing many different jobs. Along with these high expectations comes the opportunity to significantly influence the product development and trajectory of a fast-growing startup company.

The objective of this internship is to provide you with experience with Hybron’s composites manufacturing process and technology while also providing you with the opportunity to work on impactful engineering projects that will truly support the company’s development. While not guaranteed, our goal is to provide a return offer for a follow-up internship or a full-time position upon observance of strong performance during the internship.

You will be assigned one or a few major projects throughout your internship. This may include but is not limited to any of the following:
  • Design, model, and tolerance composite parts and/or tooling for a specific application
  • Prepare & lay up raw composite materials and fabricate & process composite parts
  • Fabricate tooling, which could be made from steel, aluminum, plastic, composite, or other materials
  • Operate, set up, and/or perform maintenance on various machines, including presses, ovens, CNC machines, general machine shop tools, 3D printers, impregnation machines, CT/UT scanners and material test machines
  • Perform mechanical, cosmetic, non-destructive, and destructive testing of parts with calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measurement tools
  • Design and/or execute experiments for different materials (fibers and resins) and manufacturing processes
  • Design and/or build automated systems and robots for various manufacturing processes

What we’re looking for
  • Must be a U.S. Person pursuant to EAR and ITAR definitions
  • Any student attending or recently graduated from university in Summer 2027 is invited to apply! This includes rising college sophomore through Spring/Summer 2027 graduate
  • Basic experience with manufacturing parts, whether from composite, metal, plastic, wood, etc.
  • Rapid prototyping experience with an action-bias and growth mindset
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Capable of giving, receiving, and integrating feedback, with self-awareness and a positive attitude
  • Passion for working on cutting-edge products and manufacturing technology, especially in the aerospace and defense industries
Nice to Haves
  • Rising senior or graduating senior status is preferred
  • CAD proficiency
  • Experience with composite part/tooling design and DFM
  • Machine shop experience with running saws, drill presses, mills/lathes, etc.
  • CNC programming and operating experience
  • Experience with electronics, robotics, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with material characterization (mechanical, thermal)

Compensation and Schedule
  • $35 per hour
  • Housing stipend available
  • Mondays – Fridays
  • Being in person during the standard schedule is expected daily
